Our Algarve
It was from here that the Portuguese departed on the search for other people and cultures in the 15th century…and it is in the Algarve that we receive most of those who visit, always in a welcoming manner. Even the climate is always pleasant with lots of sun all year long.
We have excellent quality beaches. Beaches as far as the eye can see, bound by Golden cliffs, almost deserted Islands that mark the border between the Ria Formosa and the sea, or small bays, all tucked in the rocks. The ocean in all shades of blue, almost always calm and warm, inviting the prolonged baths and water sports.
There are also the mountains where people live in harmony with nature and maintain traditions that they like to share.
And then there are the cities - Silves preserves traces of its Arab past and Lagos from the era of the Discovery. The more cosmopolitan: Portimão and Albufeira live day and night full or animation. Faro is the gateway of the region and Tavira a showcase of traditional architecture.
To relax, many prize awarded golf courses or various treatments in spas and Thalassotherapy centers or even the Spa of Monchique. We have hotels, holiday villages and resorts from the simplest to the most sophisticated. A varied panoply that have in common a taste of genuine hospitality.
Follow trails on foot or by bike in order to get to know the region better, such as the Via Algarviana, through the interior, or the Vincentina Route, one of the best preserved stretches of the coast of Europe.
The boat trips are another way to observe the ecological fauna and flora.
At the table there is fresh fish and seafood, grilled or in “cataplanas”. The sweets, almond and fig….or bitter sweet almond liquor and “medronho”. Which is like taking a bit of the Algarve sun back with you.
